EHPro Mod 101 and 101D RDA - Your Review Guide

I am sure that most of you are familiar with Chinese manufacturer EHPro who mainly tend to produce quality tanks such as the Billow and Batchelor. This time they have turned their attention to a tube style regulated device and in some respects it seems like things have gone full circle back to the early days of vaping.

The new Mod 101 is a 22mm tube shaped device which offers a maximum output of 50 Watts and can be used in either Variable Wattage, Temperature Control or Bypass mode. The device supports all popular wire types in Temperature Control including Titanium, Nickel and Stainless Steel 316. Designed to use either an 18650, 18500 or 18350 battery the Mod 101 is certainly flexible. This device can either be purchased on its own or as part of a package which includes the EHPro 101D single coil RDA.

EHPro Mod 101 styling and build quality

I must admit when I first opened the box the first thought that immediately sprang to mind was “Ah EHPro, I see you have constructed a new lightsaber”. Joking aside, this device is huge and highly reminiscent of the old Vamo that I once owned. It actually dwarfs all the mechanical mods that I own so it certainly is not going to appeal to anyone who appreciates highly discrete and lightweight devices. Of course there may be people out there who prefer these larger and weightier devices and I suspect it might be absolutely ideal if you are going through a midlife vaping crisis and you need a big hefty mod to make yourself feel more like a real vaper! One thing for sure you will certainly get yourself noticed using this beastly device and it is not something you can easily fit into your pocket.

Constructed from Stainless Steel the Mod 101 is very solid so should last you a decent amount of time but by the same token it is also somewhat heavy when fitted with an 18650 battery. The diameter of the device is 22mm so anything larger will have noticeable overhang though to be honest you can get away with 23mm atomizers since I thought that my Taifun GT III looked pretty smart attached to it. The 510 pin is spring-loaded and looks to be made from brass. The pin has a decent amount of travel to it and a nice firmness. I had no problems getting any of my atomizers to sit flush but some of the taller ones did tend to look quite ridiculous when fitted and this also leads to the issue of the device feeling rather unwieldy and off balance when held.

Easy to use

Mod 101 Mod 101 is designed to be easy to operate and all is performed using only one button. Many functions operate in round robins, and this could cause a bit of a delay in the event that you exceed the desired Wattage but can't just press the adjustment buttons. It is also necessary to wait for a few seconds when you select certain options, and this gives the device a certain older-fashioned feel against modern mods.

However, with time, you will likely be able to get used to it but this only applies when you have experience with other gadgets. The instruction manual is comprehensive and covers the features, so it would be a waste of time to rehash the information in this article. If you're a brand new user, I believe you'll be able to master the device in no time.

The 101D dripper can be easy to use, but I'm sure there will be some users who really dislike the lack of holes for posts. It's actually quite easy to get the wire in the screws however if it will be your very first RDA you might be a bit unsure. One thing to keep in mind is to make sure the coil has enough clearance or else it could come in contact with the control of airflow and result in an interruption. Also, you must ensure that the cap on top is installed in the correct way (it can only snap in one way)

Mod 101  is a large and heavy-duty tube device. That is perhaps its main issue, since many users are now using smaller, compact devices that aren't as bulky. In a way, the Mod 101 can make you feel as if things are returning to basics. For certain people this could be an excellent thing and may be an ideal choice if you're just beginning to learn about smoking.

Personally, I'm going to say I'm a fan of my current gadgets and, if I wanted to try tubes, I have many mechs that I'd be happy to utilize that are smaller and much more pleasant when held in hand, compared to the huge Mod 101. This is however only one view and what I can affirm is that while it isn't in my vape equipment buying list, it will provide the goods in terms of its excellent performance in both Temperature Control and Variable Wattage and won't disappoint with regard to temperature control.

The 101D RDA is a pretty decent dripper, with the arrangement of the posts that feel maybe a bit old-fashioned. While this RDA isn't going to surprise you regarding flavor, it's pretty easy to master and I would suggest that it is a good first time using a dripper, you will appreciate it until you come ready to try something more. This is why it might be worthwhile to get it alongside Mod 101if you're interested in making a move into rebuildables and are looking to save some money by creating the coils yourself. If you're a fan of drippers, I don't believe there's anything this time that you haven't previously done better.

In the end, despite its size I think EHPRO Mod 101 USA is well worth buying if it is appealing to you. The 101D is definitely less attractive but could be worth looking into when you purchase it in a bargain deal or if you're one who is eager to experience the RDA for the very first time!

If you'd like to purchase one or the other, Vappo is currently selling across USA and Canada.
